I became a fan of the paintings of Russell Tyler after checking out his studio and artshow here in Victoria. His mythical abstract paintings definitely have the influence of theatre, comics, graffiti & video games. The compositions quite often look like classic master paintings, while the content looks like a drug induced Shakespearian play. Tyler’s website has a good preview of his older (Victoria) work. Now that Russell is living in Montreal I hadn’t seen his work in awhile. Here are some samples of his recent work I scooped off Facebook.
