The Lions are a group of Vancouver artists that work together on drawings and paintings. The lineup of Tasha Brotherton, Matthew Brown, Barry Doupe, Collin Johanson and James Whitman form a really cohesive group, so cohesive that I’m not quite sure if they collaborate on the drawings or just work side by side. It’s easy to form a link to Winnepeg’s Royal Art Lodge but more so in the idea of a group of artists working together. Although the Lions do have a number of paintings the majority of the work is pen and ink and with a more abstract less polished, narrative feel.
