Russell Tyler - New Paintings

I became a fan of the paintings of Russell Tyler after checking out his studio and artshow here in Victoria. His mythical abstract paintings definitely have the influence of theatre, comics, graffiti & video games. The compositions quite often look like classic master paintings, while the content looks like a drug induced Shakespearian play. Tyler's website has a good preview of his older (Victoria) work. Now that Russell is living in Montreal I hadn't seen his work in awhile. Here are some samples of his recent work I scooped off Facebook. Russell Tyler Paintings

Logan Hicks - Photo Realistic Stencil Art

Logan Hicks is a madman and will probably have a hunch back and gnarled hands by the time he's 60. Why? Check out his meticulous hand cut stencil work. His portfolio websites address says it all www.workhorsevisuals.com logan_hicks_stencil

Logan's background in screen printing probably helped to develop his eye for colour separations. He had to switch over to stenciling when he sold his screenprinting equipment to move to California to work on his art. Now living in Brooklyn Logan has spent the last six months gruelling over 30+ stencil pieces to be in "The Beautiful Prison" an art show at The Black Rat Press in London, England. Check out The Black Rat Press's prints for sale by some legends such as Bleck le Rat, Swoon, Faile, d*face and others.

APAK - The Cutest Art in The World

Apak Art APAK is an abbreviation for Aaron Piland and Ayumi Piland. Aaron and Ayumi are two Portland Oregon based artists that create the cutest most magical worlds imaginable. I was first introduced to APAK through the mural they did while attending an artist residency at Islands Fold. Although I've never met Aaron and Ayumi I have had the chance to work with Aaron on the Grasshut website and have to say that his art comes straight from his heart. Check out their new website for more artwork and info.

Gregory Euclide Profile

Anteism contributing artist Gregory Euclide has been profiled by YouWorkForThem.(Check out all the other awesome profiles.) Gregory Euclide is an artist and teacher living in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. His attraction to the landscape originates from his experience of growing up in the rural landscapes of Wisconsin. Free to roam from farm field to forest edge, he developed an appreciation for authentic experience within the natural landscape. The complexity and interconnectedness of the environment had a profound impact on him as a child and would become the content and conceptual framework for his future work.

After teaching high school art for three years in southern Minnesota, he took a teaching job in the Twin Cities. In 2001 Gregory was awarded a summer residency at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. This time allowed him the opportunity to explore a number of materials and techniques important to the development of later works. In the past few years Gregory has shown his work at over one hundred events and locations in the Twin Cities. He has been awarded a a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and a Jerome Foundation Residency through the Blacklock Nature Sanctuary. Currently he is teaching high school art and attending graduate school at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design on a Trustee Scholarship.
